On the 12th of June BLRT Grupp, Noblessner Park and Oma Ehitaja signed a contract for the reconstruction of the historical Noblessner shipyard and foundry. This historical building complex is part of the heritage of Tallinn’s industrial architecture. At the beginning of the 20th century Noblessner was one of the most important submarine production centers of the Russian Empire.
The complex of buildings will be restored into a place for diverse cultural events such as theatre, music and other temporary events like fairs and exhibitions. The architectural design for renovations is by KAOS Architects Ltd. A public multifunctional exposition space is planned for the building with the aim of attracting visitors not only from the Noblessner quarter but from all over Tallinn and Estonia, as well as other countries. A magnificent family-center to be buillt into the foundry will be focusing, among other things, on the last word of technology – virtual reality. The center’s goal is not just entertainment-related but also educational.
The construction work will commence immediately and the restored complex opens the doors for visitors in the summer of 2019.
Enterprise Estonia supports the project with 2.4 million euros financed from the European Regional Development Fund.
