AS Oma Ehitaja turned over the nearly zero-energy reconstructed family dormitory to the Tallinn University of Technology. The scientific reconstruction of the building was unique both in the Baltic states as well as the Northern countries. The building was designed by TT\u00dc for the reconstruction of the same type of buildings built in Estonia nearly 50 years ago. The biggest challenge of the project was the use of factory-manufactured module panels on wooden frames in both the construction of the external walls and the roof of the building. In the reconstructed dormitory, there is a ventilation system with heat recovery, solar collectors for heating the water, wastewater heat recovery and solar panel system that provides energy efficiency on a near zero-energy level. The construction scientists of Tallinn University of Technology also participated In the building\u2019s reconstruction project. They conducted research during the reconstruction of the building and will analyse the functioning of the constructional physics of its facade and the inner climate of the building and also its energy-efficiency after the completion of the building when it is put to use.
\nLocated at Akadeemia tee 5A, the dormitory built in 1986 was the last unreconstructed dormitory at TT\u00dc\u2019s campus. In the new energy-efficient apartment building there are 70 1-room and 10 2-room apartments.
